FRIDAYS ARE FOR FRANK: “Autumn in New York”
“Autumn in New York
Why does it seem so inviting?
Autumn in New York
It spells the thrill of first-knighting
Shimmering clouds – glimmering crowds (glittering crowds and shimmering clouds)
In canyons of steel
They’re making me feel – I’m home…”
“Autumn in New York” was composed by Vernon Duke in 1934 for the Broadway musical Thumbs Up! which opened in December 27 of that year. Since then, many versions of the song have been recorded countless musicians and singers—the only version to achieve chart success as a single was by Frank Sinatra in 1949.
As we turn our back on the heat of summer, “Autumn in New York” means comfy sweaters, football and all things Pumpkin Spice. It’s that ever-so small window where the weather in our region is absolutely perfect. We hope you make the most of it…
“It’s autumn in New York
It’s good to live it again.”
