CRUMBLING: NJTransit Building Adjacent to Hoboken Terminal Suffers Partial Collapse
Around 3:45 Friday afternoon, a building adjacent to the Hoboken Terminal that is reportedly owned by New Jersey Transit has suffered a partial internal collapse. No injuries have been reported, and currently there is no impact to service in or out of Hoboken stemming from this specific issue.
The building sits directly to the west of the Hoboken Bus Terminal, just north of the train lines. It was scheduled for demolition in 1997.
No injuries have been reported. HFD Rescue personnel inspected the area and found an isolated event. We requested the @CityofHoboken Building Official and Engineer for more thorough examination. Companies are still on scene. https://t.co/Lj5rgHLJfC

It’s been a heck of a week for New Jersey Transit (NJT), with seemingly chronic delays from signal problems and Governor-Elect Murphy demanding the resignation of senior officials. Here in Hoboken, NJT is embroiled in a battle with the City over the future of Union Dry Dock.
As of press time, NJTransit has yet to comment on the partially collapsed structure. However, it’s reasonable to conclude based on its precarious location that any demolition may potentially impact bus service in and out of the vital Hoboken hub.
