Zipcar Buttons Up Hoboken Car-Share Program
The zipper was invented in Hoboken—manufactured by Automatic Hook & Eye Co. on the southwest corner of 11th & Adams. A century later, you’ll be able to pick up your Zipcar somewhere near that very same spot.
Next week, the City of Hoboken will be converting its on-street car sharing program from the previous operator, Hertz 24/7, to Zipcar—arguably the current industry standard for cars on demand.
Hertz 24/7 service will cease operations in Hoboken on August 31, with Zipcar taking the baton on September 1.
Any Hertz members would like to change their membership to Zipcar immediately, email NYCMarketing@Zipcar.com.
