Fridays Are For Frank: “I Get a Kick Out of You”

Frank Sinatra’s dubious affiliations with gangsters have long been a source of speculation.

From Willie Moretti giving Tommy Dorsey an “offer he couldn’t refuse,” to hanging in Havana with Lucky Luciano, palling around with Sam Giancana, and supposed untoward operations at the Cal-Neva Lodge, Sinatra consistently found himself snared in the company of questionable characters.

This past week, Sebastian Marroquín accused Frank Sinatra of colluding with his father, the late Colombian drug magnate Pablo Escobar.

Marroquin told Brazilian newspaper O Estado de Sao Paulo, “There are no receipts, just words. I know because I was very close to my father and he and his partners always spoke about that.”

While we’re not necessarily refuting Marroquin’s claim (primarily for fear of reprisal), we at hMAG are pretty big fans of the show Narcos on Netflix. Alas, we must have missed the “Special Guest Star: Frank Sinatra” episode…

Furthermore, there are these sober words from the man himself:

“Some they may go for cocaine
I’m sure that if I took even one sniff
That would bore me terrific’ly too…”

So there you have it. Plus Frank was a Reagan fan.
