Hey Brooklyn — We Had a Light Rail Before It Was Cool…
The Hobokenization of the outer boroughs continues, as NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio proposes a “street car” running between Brooklyn and Queens.
The BQX (Brooklyn-Queens Connector) would run along the East River Waterfront from Astoria, Queens to Sunset Park, Brooklyn via a “light rail.”
Meanwhile, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, which now runs from North Bergen to Bayonne, has been in service since 2000.
So go ahead and mock Jersey all you want, skinny jeans—you’re becoming more and more like us every day. Pretty soon you’ll have the Real Housewives of Park Slope showing up at your new Cake Boss location in Red Hook.
Trust us—it gets worse before it gets better. We don’t even bitch about strollers that much anymore… we’ve simply accepted our fate.
