Hoboken Uptown Farmers’ Market is BACK — Thursdays from June to October
Sometimes New Jersey’s moniker, ‘The Garden State’ can be a tough sell when you’re wandering through the concrete jungle of Hudson County. The Hoboken Uptown Farmers’ Market, in conjunction with The Quality of Life Coalition, will be arriving soon, with proof in the form of strawberries, sweet corn, and those famous Jersey tomatoes.
Beginning June 2, and running through October, the market will be open Thursdays from 2 pm to 7 pm. The convenient location at the corner of 13th & Hudson Streets ensures that residents of uptown Hoboken and beyond will have an opportunity to load up on some freshly picked salad greens for Thursday night’s dinner or a scrumptious peach pie for the weekend barbecue.
This year, we are thrilled to welcome occasional guest vendors. Jersey City Fish Stand will set up at the market the first Thursday of each month, with a local and sustainable selection of seafood. Also, Roaming Acres Farm will be at the market every week with an exceptional variety of free-range and antibiotics-free meats, from kosher chicken, to ostrich, bison, and emu. Roaming Acres even carries exotic pet treats!
Returning vendors for this seventh season include Stony Hill Farms of Chester, Gina’s Bakery of Montclair, Hoboken Farms, chemical-free and non-GMO produce from Poplar Wood Farm, and customer favorite, Dr. Pickle, who will happily give customers a sample of any of his briny offerings. As the only certified ‘Jersey Fresh’ market and member of the New Jersey Council of Farmers & Communities (NJCFC) in uptown Hoboken, all patrons can be assured that market produce is grown right here in New Jersey.
As in years past, the market is committed to helping neighbors in Hoboken who have limited access to fresh fruits and vegetables. At the end of each day, vendors are encouraged to donate leftover produce to the Hoboken Shelter. Additionally, eligible customers are welcome to use WIC (Women, Infants & Children Program) coupons with participating merchants.
Look for the Hoboken Uptown Farmers’ Market on Facebook, where they’ll keep you updated on the deal of the day and what’s in season.
