BOBBLEGLUT: Wildly Unpopular Gov. Chris Christie Bobblehead Dolls Available at Deep Discount
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum (yes, this exists) announced today that their Chris Christie bobbleheads are now on sale for $13—a price-point chosen to match the percentage of New Jersey residents who have a favorable opinion of our outgoing Governor.
These dolls were originally part of the 2016 Presidential Series, which featured the presumptive Democratic and Republican nominees. Alas, we all know how that turned out.
The most recent Rutgers-Eagleton Poll measures Christie’s approval rating at only 13%. With just under 200 of the 500 bobbleheads sold at the original price of $20.16, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum is looking to unload the glut of Christie’s likeness from their inventory, before they become completely irrelevant.
The design is an uncharacteristically jubilant image of our governor—perhaps capturing those rare candid moments after he had just verbally bashed a school teacher, signed off on development of a state park, scuttled a regional transit plan or spent a nice afternoon on the beach with his family.
According to a statement from the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, “With Christie’s time in office coming to an end, we thought now would be a great time to clear out the rest of the bobbleheads. His approval rating made for a pretty good sale price, so we went with it.”
The Chris Christie bobbleheads were shipped from the factory with a blank mini yard sign and two sets of stickers. The first set of stickers is for “Trump-Christie 2016” while the second set is a generic “Chris Christie” version.
“Whether you’re one of the people who approved of Christie or someone looking for a great gag gift, we hope these don’t last long at the sale price! Maybe a bobblehead of Christie on a bridge or at the beach would have gone over better, but we decided not to take the risk after our experience with this one.”
