DRINK LOCAL… BECAUSE IT’S GOOD: Departed Soles Brewing Wins at World Beer Cup
The craft beer and brewing scene here in Hudson County—the birthplace of American Brewing—is thriving, thanks to the gutsy, innovative entrepreneurs who are reasserting New Jersey’s prominence in the field.
Of course with increasingly savvy consumers, one of the keys to success in today’s brewing industry is pretty straightforward—make good beer.
Our friends at Departed Soles Brewing Co. have been recognized for doing just that, taking home a Bronze Medal at the 2016 World Beer Cup in Philadelphia.
The 2016 World Beer Cup saw 6,596 beers from 1,907 breweries, representing 55 countries. Departed Soles brought home the Bronze Medal for “A Dark Night,” in the Gluten-Free Beer category.
“A lot of people thought I was crazy, brewing Gluten Free; most still do. I ventured down this path in memory of my best friend, and I would never put out a beer that would tarnish this lasting legacy of our friendship,” said Brian Kulbacki, founder and brewer of Departed Soles. “Being just blocks from the PATH, in this community, surrounded, inspired, and supported by all of these amazing people and businesses, I hold the brewery to a high standard. This is an amazing reaffirmation that I’m doing something right, and we’re less than a year old, so hopefully a sign of things to come!”
Departed Soles Brewing Company is located at 150 Bay Street, Jersey City, NJ and is one of only two functioning brew houses in Hudson County—the only brewery in the Tri-State Area producing options with 100% Gluten Free Ingredients.
Departed Soles is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for the public to visit, tour and sample.
