Once Frank left Hoboken, he didn’t really come back that much. Let’s just say, things between Sinatra and his hometown were… complicated.
But one event that did bring him back was the St. Ann’s Feast — which celebrates its 106th year starting tonight and running through Tuesday.
Frank came to town with his friend, Ronald Reagan—who was then running for re-election as President of the United States.
“I heard about your zeppoles,” said Reagan, “and so, here I am in Hoboken.”
Reagan knew of what he spoke. Of course, the line for zeppoles is nearly as well-known as the festival itself.
