FRIDAYS ARE FOR FRANK: Sinatra & Don Rickles
“When you enter a room, you have to kiss his ring. I don’t mind, but he has it in his back pocket.”
–Don Rickles on Frank Sinatra
Prepare to be offended…
We’re not going to apologize for anything that is said if you click on one of the links below, because Don Rickles didn’t seek to offend—he sought to ridicule offense.
“If I were to insult people and mean it, that wouldn’t be funny.”
Don Rickles and Frank Sinatra used to joke with each other for the sake of being funny. They came from a time when diversity meant insulting everyone in the room. In other words, if Don Rickles DIDN’T make fun of you, then and only then could be offended.
Born in Queens in 1926, Don Rickles (a.k.a. “Mr. Warmth”) passed away Thursday at the age of 90. Here he is zeroing in on one of his favorite targets—Hoboken’s own Frank Sinatra.
