FÜNF FEST: Hoboken’s Pilsener Haus & Biergarten Celebrates 5th Annual Oktoberfest

When the founders of Pilsener Haus first opened their gates in 2011, their ambition was to present the first true European-style biergarten to the beer lovers and diners of New Jersey.  This year’s Oktoberfest, running through October 23rd, will be a vibrant, time-honored festival of beer, food and music.

Pilsener Haus’ Chef Martin Schaub will serve a very special Oktoberfest Menu. Chef Schaub’s presence has made the Haus an acclaimed NJ dining destination. The menu will include:

• Cream of Cauliflower with crispy Prosciutto
• Pilsener Haus Wurst Salad: bier sausage, Emmental cheese, tomato, onion, lovage, egg
• Schweinshaxen – Roasted Pork Shank for two, with assorted salads and country bread
• Roasted Suckling Pig with sauerkraut and pretzel dumplings
• Sacher Torte – two-layer chocolate cake, apricot jam, rich chocolate ganache.

The life-blood of Oktoberfest is of course Bier! A ceremonial keg-tapping of NJ brewer Ramstein’s Oktoberfest brew will christen the fest. The Haus’ taps will flow with Oktoberfest imports like Hofbraü and Hacker-Pschorr. In all, the biergarten offers 70 premium beers.

Music is as much a part of Oktoberfest as the food and beer! Pilsener Haus is Hoboken’s most varied venue. The roster ranges from old-school polka to younger, rock-influenced bands. The web site will list each weekend’s bands.

“Authenticity at Pilsener Haus is foremost. Chef Schaub’s special menu, the Oktoberfest beers and the music will transport our guests to Oktoberfest like in the age-old biergartens we knew in Europe,” states owner Ladi Sebestyan.
