Hoboken Car Crash Nets Drunk Driver With Suspended License

A 30 year-old Jersey City resident was arrested Sunday evening following a car crash near 412 Monroe Street in Hoboken. She was charged with Driving While License Suspended, Reckless Driving, and Driving While Intoxicated.

At about 9:50 p.m. on January 19, Sgt. Edward Sellick and Officer Marc Lombardi responded to the scene and found a black 2017 Honda with its airbags deployed, heavy front-end damage, and the windshield cracked. Investigation concluded that the driver, Emily Vieni, had struck a parked red 2017 Toyota that was occupied by a driver and a front passenger. All parties involved refused medical attention.

Sgt. Sellick detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Vieni. After a battery of tests it was determined that Vieni was unable to operate a motor vehicle safely, she was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. After providing a breath sample, she was found to be above the legal limit and released to a responsible party.
