Hoboken Getting the ‘Yoga Pants District’ It Deserves, as Lululemon Prepares to Open Across From Athleta

Manhattan has the Fashion District. Now it appears that Hoboken will be getting its own practical, utilitarian version as yoga-inspired athletic apparel company Lululemon prepares to move into 313 Washington Street—directly across the street from Gap-owned competitor Athleta.

Jersey Digs has reported that Lululemon has submitted applications to the Hoboken Historical Preservation Commission regarding signage for the 2,200 sq/ft retail location, which would be the company’s first in Hudson County.

The rumors of Lululemon’s arrival here on the west bank of the Hudson have been surfacing for years. Now, it looks as though they’re “posed” for a showdown and looking to “go to the mat” with their competition… or whatever other yoga pun you want to “stretch” to work in here.

Their meeting with the Historical Preservation Commission is Monday, May 6. We’ll keep you posted on any updates…
