Over 400 volunteers spread out across the city of Hoboken this past weekend as part of Hoboken
Grace’s biggest community service event of the year. The 8th annual 1Day Hoboken took place this past Saturday, September 29th, and it was by far the largest 1Day yet!
1Day mobilizes hundreds of volunteers of all ages and interests to complete projects throughout Hoboken that will have a lasting impact in the community. The effort is organized by Hoboken Grace Community Church, and the goal is to complete more than 30 single day projects that benefit diverse segments of the community and assist those in need.
This year, over 400 volunteers participated in 1Day and completed 35 projects with some requiring as many as 85 volunteers.
Projects helped to serve the following organizations:
- Hoboken Housing Authority
- Hoboken Green Infrastructure
- Boys & Girls Club
- TRUE Mentors
- Jubilee Center
- The Hoboken Shelter
“In more than 10 years of serving our community this was the best 1Day yet! It was overwhelming to see how enthusiastic this year’s volunteers were to serve,” said Chris High, Lead Pastor of Hoboken Grace. “Hoboken Grace is constantly looking for opportunities to impact the community of Hoboken and we were able to do that in a big way today.”
“People want to do something significant with their lives. Sometimes, however, we lose sight of that. Today is about giving people the chance to experience that in a small way, hoping that today leads to a life lived for significance, not just 1 day.”
