“Asbury Park is not only the perfect spot to get away when the weather turns warm but has emerged as a hotbed for new alternative art with several galleries in the art row on Cookman Avenue where Palette ArtSpace shares with other notable galleries like Parlor Art Gallery, Exhibit 9, and Art 629. Furthermore, to get people into the spirit of summer its opening is in conjunction with Asbury Park’s First Saturdays, a monthly event where shops, restaurants, and galleries stay open late and celebrate with special sales and promotions—the downtown area really comes alive!”
The art exhibit curated by Christopher G. Coleman, director of HobokenArts™ and Joe Borzotta, owner and director of Palette ArtSpace showcases artwork inspired by Asbury Park and summer at the Jersey shore. The artists participating are largely comprised of talent from Hudson County, New Jersey who have a connection with summertime excursions to the shoretowns in New Jersey especially Asbury Park—a prominent one due to its diverse culture and proximity to Northern New Jersey and New York City. Artwork is in a myriad of styles and mediums. You will see vibrant colors and pop styles to reflect the summer amusement park vibe entrenched in the city’s history. From oil, acrylic, watercolor paintings to photography and mixed media works the artwork is as diverse as Asbury Park’s storied past. Artists include Robert Piersanti, Lorenzo Irico, Jay Boucher, Santiago Cohen, Cheryl Gross, Paul Leibow, Gloria Pacis, Alex Sobolta, Joe Epstein, Theda Sandiford, Bryant Small, and Phillip McConnell.
