PLEASE DONATE: Hoboken Citywide Fundraiser to Help Hurricane Relief — THIS WEEKEND
If you’re out an about in Hoboken this weekend, hopefully you’ll see these boxes:
If you have a bit of money to spare, please throw it in there.
The goal is to collect as much money as possible in aid of hurricane relief for the victims of Harvey and Irma—many of them the very same people who helped us nearly five years ago when Sandy hit our region.
The news cameras might be gone, but as we know all too well the damage is still there. That’s why we’re hoping to help organizations like the Greater Houston Community Foundation’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund and Team Rubicon as they continue to, as Team Rubicon member Jon Connors so eloquently put it, “kick disasters in the face.”
The boxes will be out all weekend, after which we’ll retrieve them on Tuesday, count up the money and donate DIRECTLY to the charities. Given the immediate need and the relative logistical ease, we opted to organize a financial donation. If you’re uneasy donating via our boxes, or want to find other ways to help, by all means approach these or other relief organizations yourself and help however you can.
But if you are out and you see our bins, please donate.
