SCUFFLE IN THE PARK: After-School Fight Between Students Disrupts Church Square
An incident at Church Square Park on Thursday afternoon resulted in the arrest of a number of juveniles.
The altercation began around 3:00 p.m., when groups of students started scuffling in the park. The catalyst for the fight is still unclear, but it grew to involve nearly a dozen students. The initial motive was not robbery, but in the process of the fight a cell phone and $1o was taken by individuals involved, thereby upping the charges for those juveniles.
While the incident was certainly unsettling, Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante told hMAG that there were no weapons involved, no hospitalizations, and no reports of any significant injuries.
The Hoboken Police Department (HPD) typically maintain a strong presence in the park, however, their personnel were redirected yesterday to assist with a medivac situation that required the closure of Pier A.

HPD will be patrolling Church Square Park as usual today, and for the foreseeable future.
