SUPPORT THE TROOPS: Fundraiser for Hoboken American Legion Post 107’s Initiative to House Homeless Veterans — SATURDAY, APRIL 8th
As part of its ongoing commitment to the community, the Hoboken Rotary Club is hosting a fundraiser for the Hoboken American Legion Post 107 this Saturday night, April 8th, at the Hoboken Elks Club (1005 Washington Street) from 7:00-11:00 p.m.
“The post is raising money to tear down the existing post (which was extensively damaged in Superstorm Sandy) and rebuild a brand new post with meeting space for Vets as well as six units of housing for homeless veterans,” says Joe Mindak—Hoboken Rotary member and “Publisher Emeritus” here at hMAG. “The total campaign is for $1,000,000. The rest of the funds come from grants and government funding.”
Mindak has a long track record of raising funds and awareness for the Hoboken American Legion. “I’ve always had total respect for the people that risked their lives to fight for our country,” he says. “I think a lot of us forget why we have the freedom we have because of them. This is just a little way of saying thank you.”
As for the event itself, it should be a great night out.
“The event will be incredible,” promises Mindak. “We have open bar, small plates of food by Frankie & Ava’s, and three live bands—Adam Levine will start the show, followed by Undercover and we will finish with The Counterfeiters.”
