5K Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer — SATURDAY @ Liberty State Park
The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) – NYC and NJ Chapters, invite community members to sign up for their 1st Annual 5K Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer® on April 2, 2016 at Liberty State Park in Jersey City.
This event is the newest of 20 run/walks taking place nationally in 2016. It is the largest fundraiser and awareness event for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Organized by local Chapter leaders and volunteers, this event celebrates survivors, remembers those we’ve lost to ovarian cancer, and engages the community to run or walk for a cure.
Registration will open at 9:00 AM. The 5K Race (USATF certified) will start at 11:00 am with the 5K walk starting at 11:30. Everyone who registers for the event receives a branded NOCC fleece headband. And, anyone who raises $100 or more (above the registration fee) receives a matching NOCC fleece scarf. Runners, walkers, survivors, teams and enthusiastic family members are encouraged to register and participate. Sponsorships and donations are welcome and appreciated.
The NOCC’s mission is to fight tirelessly to prevent and cure ovarian cancer, and to improve the quality of life for survivors. Funds raised through the Run/Walk support the NOCC’s local and national awareness campaigns, survivor programs, and research initiatives including our partnership with Stand Up 2 Cancer to support a groundbreaking Ovarian Cancer Research Dream Team.
