Having been closed since a devastating fire in February, Hoboken Indian favorite Karma Kafe is set to reopen today at their 505 Washington Street location.
Karma Kafe has been in business for 17 years, firmly establishing the Indian presence in Hoboken’s restaurant scene back in 1999.
The February blaze originated in an adjacent building, then spread to the top floor of 505 Washington Street. While the restaurant was untouched by the fire, the water damage from the response was severe—further complicated by extremely cold temperatures.
Residents escaped the blaze, while 14 firefighters sustained injuries ranging from cuts and bruises to exhaustion and hypothermia—with temperatures in the single-digits and windchill well below zero at the time of the fire.
The restaurant has undergone renovations since the incident, and Karma Kafe are finally ready to serve Hoboken once again!
