JERSEY CITY ROCKS: The City’s Music Scene Takes Centerstage at White Eagle Hall — FRIDAY, JAN. 19th

The “Jersey City Rocks” show this Friday, at White Eagle Hall boasts a stunningly diverse lineup of rock, hip hop, doom, indie-pop, dub and house artists—all in one phenomenal show, booked by local rock musician Debra Devi.

“I want this show to turn people on to the multicultural, loving and accepting energy of the Jersey City music scene, which makes this such an amazing place to live and create,” Devi explains. “In this town, we hang out together and we create together, across racial and genre boundaries. I hope this show is just the beginning of many more to come that will illuminate the quality and diversity of the music and art being produced in this town.”

The show is meant to be a coming-out party for the Jersey City music scene, which has long struggled to find places to perform due to restrictive local ordinances. White Eagle Hall has shown real commitment since opening in 2016 to booking Jersey City’s best musical artists to open for national acts, and providing opportunity for the town’s strong music scene to spread it wings.

“Jersey City Rocks” kicks off with JC Studios Battle of the Bands winners The Components, followed by politically conscious hip hop/dub band Universal Rebel, indie-pop artists Hey Anna, Debra Devi’s ‘70s-influenced rock/jam band, and gnarly metal/doom rockers Black Wail. The show will be MC’d by hip hop artist Constant Flow, who will perform during each changeover. DJ Sirena Mercado will lead the after-party, with deep house beats and live percussionists from the popular ELEV^TE parties produced by Sirelo Entertainment.

JC artist Robert Piersanti designed the concert poster and will exhibit his boldly colored, pop-art-style paintings at the concert. One dollar from each ticket will be donated to Jersey City Theater Center.
