HOBOKEN SHELTER WINTER AUCTION—Tuesday, December 11th @ Birch
For the 15th year, The Hoboken Shelter will host its Winter Auction, one of the community’s most popular December events.
The Live Auction, Silent Auction, and Tricky Tray all feature items from Hoboken’s best stores and restaurants as well as other prizes, hosted in the upper levels of Birch (92 River Street, Hoboken) on Tuesday, December 11th from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
“All proceeds support the Shelter’s programs, which aim to ‘end homelessness one person at a time’,” says Jaclyn Cherubini, the Shelter’s Executive Director. “Last year we were able to serve 10,000 meals with the money raised at the Winter Auction. It’s a night celebrating friends, food, and fun. We like to think of it as Hoboken’s Holiday party.”
The event will feature a light buffet and drink specials for a donation of $40 at the door. Tickets are also available online at http://hobho.me/wa18
Part of the night’s events will include an acknowledgement the 175 people the Shelter helped to become successfully housed in 2018. “The Shelter staff, volunteers, and board work very hard to, as Jaclyn said, ‘end homelessness, one person at a time’”, says Randolph Hoppe, At-Large Board member. “Our ability to help people from the street, through our shelter, to their own home is an important community service. Although we call it an “Auction”,” Hoppe adds, “this event is our celebration of a year’s work, and a look forward to the good we can do in 2019.”
