Hoboken is noticeably emptier today, with the sad news that our beloved Vincent Wassman has passed. He was 94.

Born on April 1, 1925, Wassman lived his entire life here in Hoboken. Vinny served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict, returning to Hoboken and eventually working as an advisor to the City’s administration.

Vinny was a fixture around town—always a welcome sight to see as he took his strolls with his cherished pal Cole, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Charming and engaging, Wassman remained vivacious throughout his life, working tirelessly on behalf of the Hoboken American Legion Post 107 and the Hoboken Elks Lodge 74.

Predeceased by his wife Nona, Wassman is survived by five children and 11 grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of joy and perseverance.

Hoboken will miss him very much.
