“Green Eggs and Ham” with Mayor Zimmer — Friday at Little City Books
Politics can be a lot like “Green Eggs and Ham”—you lobby incessantly in an effort to convince people that they’ll like what you have to offer, yet all too often they’re simply too rigid and set in their ways to give you a chance.
It takes a long, agonizing battle of attrition as you attempt to compromise—you modify your initial proposal again and again and again, amending the concept by adding a variety of clauses and stipulations. Yet still, your pleas fall on deaf ears…
Until finally you wear down your opponent and they begrudgingly concede—only to discover that your idea wasn’t so bad after all.
Are we reaching a bit? Well… not that much, really.
Just ask Hoboken’s Mayor Dawn Zimmer, who will be reading Dr. Seuss at Little City Books (100 Bloomfield Street) Friday, July 24 at 11:00.
“Say!
I like green eggs and ham!
I do!! I like them, Sam-I-am!”
Now that’s the spirit…
