At the foot of Stevens Institute along Sinatra Drive lies Sybil’s Cave. Mysterious gates guard this legendary spot which was cast in the national spotlight when it became the subject of Edgar Allan Poe’s famous short story, “The Mystery of Marie Roget.” Poe based this story on the sensationalized murder of Mary Rogers that took place in 1841. ••
