A few weeks back, a group of hairstylists from all over the region brought their talents to the Hoboken Shelter to provide those in need with the amazing sense of renewal a haircut brings.
Organized by a small group of volunteers, and powered by DIEMlife, the April 15th Cuts for a Cause event saw roughly 75 guests walk back into the world with a professionally done hair cut—and the self-confidence that comes with it.
“We definitely would like to do this again,” said organizer John Venus. “We are thinking of maybe doing the next one closer to a Holiday.”
Venus credits DIEMlife for helping get the community involved.
“This is why we partnered with DIEMlife on this, which is a social media platform basically designed to drive impact to our communities through events—they call them Quests,” said Venus. “We created a volunteer page for this specific event on this site, so maybe we can open that up so others who would want to join future efforts can make themselves known.”
Meanwhile, the group is still collecting donations on behalf of the Hoboken Shelter, in hopes of reaching their $5,000 goal.
