Earth Day Hangover: Hoboken Has Brown Water
Mother Nature ran the gamut yesterday, bringing beautiful sunshine followed by nasty rain and thunder. That’s cool—we’ve all been there. It’s our party and we’ll cry if we want to, etc…
The only problem is she’s made a mess of the bathroom.
Hoboken residents are reporting brown water coming from the taps and toilets. Here is the official response:
Some in @CityofHoboken are reporting discolored water after valve work today stirred up sentiment. It is safe and should be clearing up.

So I guess that’s settled then…
Here’s a dramatization of how that statement was delivered:
Hoboken’s brown water is a seasonal thing—as sediment finds its way into the pipes from area reservoirs, which sometimes occurs following the spring thaw.
Keep in mind, that’s merely a guess—we’re simply working with what we’ve been given here…
We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, we’re going to hold off on the shower this morning.
Don’t get too close.
