FAY IT AIN’T SO: Tropical Storm Warning as System Set to Hit New Jersey Friday

The National Hurricane Center has just issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Cape May, New Jersey through Watch Hill, Rhode Island, as thunderstorms of the Carolinas have developed into an organized system. On Friday, coastal areas are facing anywhere from 3-5 inches of rainfall and winds upwards of 45 miles per hour.

“One of the main threats associated with Tropical Storm Fay will be heavy rain and the potential for flash flooding,” said the National Weather Service Weather Prediction Center. “As much as 3 to 5 inches of rain can be expected across portions of the Mid Atlantic and New England with Fay. Flash flood watches have been posted over these areas.”

Tropical Storm force winds are set to impact New Jersey Friday afternoon, spreading northward through the warning area Friday night. Power outages may occur, and residents are advised to secure any outdoor items.
