FRIDAYS ARE FOR FRANK: “Have You Met Miss Jones?”
Written for the musical comedy, I’d Rather Be Right, “Have You Met Miss Jones?” appeared on Frank Sinatra’s 1961 album Sinatra Swings.
With tracks arranged and conducted by Billy May and his orchestra, the album was advertised as “twelve of the most uninhibited Sinatra things ever recorded.”
“Have You Met Miss Jones?” is a song about a guy who gets hit by the proverbial lightning bolt:
“And all at once I lost my breath,
And all at once was scared to death
And all at once I owned the earth and sky
And now I’ve met Miss Jones
And we’ll keep on meeting till we die
Miss Jones and I…”
Be careful out there.
