FRIDAYS ARE FOR FRANK: Swingadelic Sinatra Showcase Concert (feat. Contest Winners) @ Hoboken’s Sinatra Park
Here at hMAG, #FridaysAreForFrank. Here in Hoboken, next Thursday is his, too…
On Thursday, June 13 The Swingadelic Big Band will perform at the Sinatra Showcase Concert—featuring first place winners from the contest-formerly-known-as Sinatra Idol: Greg Meyers, Tony Correo, Zack Alexander & Jerry Pearce.
While “Sinatra Idol” is regrouping in the wake of an absurdly frivolous cease-and-desist from American Idol‘s Malibu lawyers, Hoboken continues to toast “The Voice” at his namesake Frank Sinatra Park on the city’s stunning Hudson River Waterfront.
Swingadelic began in 1998, under the leadership of Hobokenite Dave Post, and has performed at previous Sinatra contests—as well as Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing, NJPAC, festivals including Bele Chere (Ashville, NC), MusikFest (Allentown, PA) the CD 109 Jazz & Blues Festival (Red Bank, NJ) and the sanofi-aventis JazzFest (Madison NJ).
The band plays about 100 dates per year from Maine to Atlanta, while maintaining a residency at Swing 46 in NYC where it performs every other Monday as a ten-piece “little big band.”
Swingadelic has seven CDs and has been recording for the ZOHO Music and have been in the JazzWeek Radio charts top thirty, having garnered many critically acclaimed reviews in jazz publications such as Jazz Times and All About Jazz.
Joining them to toast Hoboken’s favorite son will be proven heavyweight champs of the ring-a-ding-ding Greg Meyers, Tony Correo, Zack Alexander & Jerry Pearce.
So swing on by, for one of the best nights of the year to be in Hoboken…
