FRIDAYS ARE FOR FRANK: “Time After Time”

FRIDAYS ARE FOR FRANK: “Time After Time”

Time after time
I tell myself that I’m
So lucky to be loving you.

So lucky to be
The one you run to see
In the evening,
when the day is through.

“Time After Time” was written in 1946, with lyrics by Sammy Cahn and music by Jule Styne.

Frank Sinatra first belted it out in the 1947 film It Happened in Brooklyn, musical romantic comedy film directed by Richard Whorf and starring Sinatra, Kathryn Grayson, Peter Lawford, and Jimmy Durante and featuring Gloria Grahame and Marcy McGuire. The album version below was recorded in 1957 with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra—including a strong, Sinatra-esque crescendo to close out the track.

I only know what I know
The passing years will show
You’ve kept my love so young, so new.

And time after time
You’ll hear me say that I’m
So lucky to be loving you.
