As regional hospitals find themselves in a desperate fight against a growing number of of coronavirus cases, Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla has asked for volunteers to join the fight:

“Our Health Department is doing a great job but needs help,” said the Mayor via Twitter. “We need volunteer public health nurses & epidemiologists to assist with managing COVID-19 data. If you can help out, email lpellegrini@hobokennj.gov w/ subject “public health nurse & epidemiologist”.

When asked for clarification on who should volunteer and the duties involved, Hoboken Spokesman Vijay Chaudhuri told hMAG, “We’re looking for certified nurses and epidemiologists, as well as personnel for database management and health investigations.”

Chaudhuri adds, “Vulnerable individuals (senior citizens, pregnant women, anyone with pre-existing respiratory issues) should not volunteer.”

Bhalla’s call comes after an appeal yesterday for further aid to our area hospitals as the COVID-19 crisis continues to take a considerable toll on Hudson County, New Jersey and the entire Metro New York area.
