Less than two years ago, the visionary minds at hMAG.com brought you a proposal for a dual-purpose moat, designed to handle floodwater mitigation and repel invading hordes (apropos for this weekend’s activities).
“We are honored to be recognized for our efforts to make Hoboken more resilient,” said Mayor Dawn Zimmer. “Through a multi-layered approach to resiliency, we are on the cusp of solving a more than century-old flooding problem.”
This announcement comes less than a week after the Hoboken City Council had to hold an emergency meeting to approve funding for an emergency wet-weather pump.
Meanwhile, hMAG still waits for its own flood of international accolades. Just because we published it as a satirical April Fool’s joke, that doesn’t mean we don’t deserve our own UN recognition…
