Hoboken Police Nab Package Thieves
Tip o’ the Santa cap to the Hoboken Police Department, who have caught three package thieves in the past few days.
According to NJ.com:
–Craig Davis, 55, Jersey City, was arrested Wednesday for stealing hundreds of dollars worth of items from building vestibules on Bloomfield Street and Park Avenue.
–Elliot Dumont, 52, of Hoboken, was arrested on Thursday after he was caught on video stealing packages from the vestibule of 403 Bloomfield Street on Dec. 10.
-At 2 a.m. on Friday, police spotted Joshua Aviles, 25, of Hoboken, opening a package in Columbus Park.
That said, the risk of losing your packages still remains high, as scumbaggery never takes a holiday…
The City of Hoboken recommends that residents take the following actions to avoid the unfortunate and untimely loss of holiday deliveries:
-Choose a shipping option that requires you to sign for delivery.
-Check on the package’s delivery status online so you can try to be home when it arrives.
-Leave a note asking the delivery service to leave the package with a neighbor.
-Have the package shipped to another location where someone can receive it, like your office or a friend’s home.
-Ask the delivery service to hold your package for customer pick-up.
-File a theft report immediately if you think your package was stolen, and contact your credit card company to find out if it offers a purchase-protection service that might reimburse you for stolen purchases.
