HUDSON WEST FOLK FESTIVAL: Full Day of Award-Winning Artists and Insightful Workshops — Saturday, September 14th

The Hudson West Folk Festival presents an eclectic list of performers—including Grammy Award Winners— as well as free music workshops for musicians and just plain ol’ music lovers this Saturday in Jersey City.

“This is our 3rd annual festival,” says organizer Gidge Miller. This year’s roster of performers includes: Mary Gauthier, David Olney, Vance Gilbert, Susan McKeown, Jean Rohe, Sam Baker, Taarka, Sophie Buskin, Rosier (aka Les Poules à Colin).

Interspersed among the top-notch folk performances will be insightful folk music workshops—conducted by a number of these talented artists—focusing on Songwriting, Storytelling, the Music of Quebec, and Improvisational Singing.

“The participants will not need to bring anything during the workshops as they will be more instructional,” says Miller. “We will, though, have an open jam at 12:30 pm where those participants may want to bring an instrument.”

Rounding out the festival experience, there will be a full bar and an entire hall dedicated to an array of food and craft vendors.

A music festival with a unique approach, the Hudson West Folk Festival runs all day Saturday, September 14 at Grace Church (39 Erie Street, Jersey City) from 12:30 pm until 10:00 pm.
