RAVE: Halifax – North Atlantic Cuisine on Hoboken’s Waterfront
With so much focused on the waterfront and Hoboken’s nautical heritage, there is a surprising shortage of good seafood here in town. With a world-class view of the water from any seat in the restaurant, Halifax (225 River Street, in The W Hotel) offers so many awe-inspiring reminders that we’re lucky to be living here on the North Atlantic.
Executive Chef Seadon Shouse delivers the taste of the Northeastern coastal cuisine, from the Mid-Atlantic through New England and beyond to Nova Scotia—where Chef Shouse grew up. The idea at Halifax is to offer the sort of menu you’d find at coastal village restaurant a century ago—featuring locally sourced meat, fish, produce and dairy—while enjoying stunning riverside views of the Manhattan skyline.
Raw bar selections feature East and West Coast oysters, Long Island littleneck clams, Seadon’s house-smoked mussels and more. There’s also a changing selection of crudo, mouth-watering small plates and enticing entrees for sea fare (try the Lobster Roll) or culinary landlubbers (Lamb Ragout) alike.
Dessert is an exquisite array of regional specialties from Pastry Chef Stuart Marx, plus phenomenal cocktails, craft beers and fine wines to complement your delectable Downeast culinary cruise.
