TASTE OF WEEHAWKEN: A Culinary Fundraiser for the Benefit of the Weehawken Public Library – TUESDAY, APRIL 26

The 16th Annual Taste of Weehawken, the annual culinary fundraiser on behalf of the Weehawken Free Public Library, takes place on Tuesday, April 26th from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Food Court at Lincoln Harbor, 1200 Harbor Boulevard along the picturesque Weehawken waterfront. One of the longest-running and most successful events of its kind in the area, guests at the Taste can delight their taste buds and sample the fare from dozens of area restaurants, caterers and food specialty shops, along with wine, beer and cordials tastings, all while supporting the Weehawken Library.

“The Taste is not only an extraordinary evening of exceptional food and drink,” said Leona M. Nersesian, president of the Weehawken Library Board of Trustees. “but also wonderful way to support our cherished Library,” she added. “The continued support of this event – especially by the many fine restaurants and business owners who come together at the Taste – has helped make our Weehawken Free Public Library and Media Center among the best in the state.” Throughout the years, money raised at the Taste of Weehawken has been an important source of funding for many programs and activities at the Library. This past year’s funds were used to enhance many Library programs, such as art exhibits, guest lectures, and special events. We were also able to add to our children’s’ programming with visits from the Center for Aquatic Science and Flat Rock Brook Nature Association. This Library was also able to acquire new technologies for patrons as a result of the additional funding through the Taste.

Hundreds of food enthusiasts will converge at the Taste to enjoy delicious and diverse combination of ethnic items, family favorites, and exotic and regional specialties from a fantastic cross section of restaurants, caterers, bakeries and other food establishments, all under one roof! Both high profile and emerging local restaurants will be on hand featuring Continental, Cuban, American, Italian, Indian, Japanese, Greek, Mexican and many other cuisines. Desserts of all kinds will be offered, including cakes, cupcakes, ice cream, artisan chocolates and other confections. Also on hand will be aspiring young student chefs from the Weehawken High School Culinary Arts Program.

Participants in this year’s Taste represent many returning restaurants as well as several new eateries: Amanda’s Restaurant, Ben & Jerry’s, The Cake Lounge Restaurant/Palermo’s Bakery, Los Charritos, Chart House Restaurant, Cucharamama/Ultramarino’s/Zafra, Del Frisco’s Grille, Flaming Burritos, G.P.’s, Gladis Homemade Cakes, Haven Riverfront Restaurant & Bar, Houlihan’s Weehawken, Jack Austin’s, The Jamming Cupcakes, Karma Kafe, Kathryn’s Confections, Lorraine’s Table, McLoone’s Pier House, Molos Restaurant, Pier 115 Bar & Grill, Porto Leggero, Robongi, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Shakin’ Café • Juice Bar, Son Cubano, Sunday Gravy NYC, Touch of Spice, El Unico de Elena, Waterside Restaurant and Catering, Weehawken High School Culinary Arts Program and more.

Exclusive wine sponsor, Giannone Wines and Liquors of West New York will also be back at the Taste, this time hosting tastings of dozens of international and domestic wine chosen to complement the food offerings, as well as a selection of craft beers and tastings of after-dinner cordials.

“We are extremely grateful to each of these restaurants and businesses for their ongoing support of the Taste,” said Mayor Richard F. Turner. “We hope those attending can not only enjoy a ‘taste’ of some of their favorite restaurants, but also that they discover some of their new favorites as well.” The Mayor also encourages everyone to support the Taste restaurants throughout the year and thank them for their support.
