BACK FROM THE DEAD? Rumors Swirl on Resurrected/Revamped Whole Foods Jersey City Deal

In 2016, as Hoboken was popping corks over its hyper-hyped Trader Joe’s megachurch on the corner of 14th & Willow, Jersey City began making shapes about its own addition of a Whole Foods store near the Grove Street PATH Station.

Unfortunately that deal died in 2017, citing site contamination in the proposed location.

However, Whole Foods expressed an interest in seeing the deal through at another location. “We remain as committed as ever to bringing the highest-quality natural and organic foods to Jersey City,” said Ted Kwong, Whole Foods Northeast Regional PR Coordinator told JerseyDigs at the time.

Today, JerseyDigs has reported that a deal to bring open a Whole Foods Jersey City market—as well as the organic food store’s Northeast corporate headquarters—is “very close,” potentially setting up shop in the Harborside area.
