BIG WAKE ROLLS INTO MAXWELL’S — Saturday, June 4 @ 8:00
A great roster of local live music tonight at Maxwell’s with the Big Wake Single Release Show, featuring Defending Champions and Mongooch.
“Big Wake has been recording a new album the past two years and is really excited to finally release some new music from it, starting with our first single called ‘Why We Belong’,” says lead singer Gerry Rosenthal.
“Every person who buys a ticket to the show regardless of who they are there to see will get a download card with the track on it. We will also have brand new shirts, stickers, and our first album for sale at the show as well!”
Of course Big Wake always gets by with a little help from their friends.
“It’s always awesome playing with the Defending Champions,” says Rosenthal. “They have incredible energy and killer songs. Definitely one of my favorite NJ bands, and guys we are lucky enough to call friends of ours.”
The collaboration goes beyond tonight’s stage. “Big Wake put a horn section on a few tunes on the new album including ‘Why We Belong,’ and we tracked them at the lead singer and trombone player Matt Ryan’s studio, Homefront Studios in Caldwell. NJ. So they were actually the first band we thought of to share the bill with us at Maxwell’s, as a way to thank them and tie the recording process into the live show.”
Riding a wave of enthusiasm that’s backed by genuine talent, Big Wake continue to take ambitious steps in the local music scene.
“In the next few months we will be putting the finishing touches on the new album,” says Rosenthal, “and will be playing a bunch of shows in anticipation of releasing it in the fall/winter of 2016!”
