Hoboken can’t catch a break from the water main breaks—this time hitting right in the heart of the downtown commercial area, on the corner of Newark & Hudson Streets.
The water main break reportedly occurred around 3:30 a.m., with a resulting loss of water pressure citywide. Currently the water pressure is sporadic, with complaints of pressure loss coming in from uptown.
The break is along a 16-inch water main. SUEZ Water North Jersey are on the scene, and while it has been isolated, repairs are still underway.
In addition to the disruption of water, traffic flow throughout that heavily traveled area is blocked.
#Hoboken 8:15 am update The 16 inch water main has been isolated. Traffic opened at Hudson and Observer but still remains closed at 1st and closed at Newark between River and Washington.
