Hoboken Shelter Summer Splash Fundraiser at Amanda’s Restaurant
The Hoboken Shelter’s Summer Splash will take place this Wednesday, June 10th at 6:30pm at the always elegant Amanda’s Restaurant (908 Washington Street). The event raises money to provide food, housing and programs for the less fortunate in the community.
Attendees will be treated to beer, wine, passed hors d’oeuvres, pasta bar, and a silent auction with fabulous prizes—including a one-night stay at the W Hotel and a stay at the Hyatt in Jersey City. Admission to the event is $75 at the door.
BCB Community Bank is on board as a $1,000 sponsor again this year, as well as Carolyn Yuhas.
For more than three decades, The Hoboken Shelter has given Hoboken’s most vulnerable population a warm meal and safe place to sleep. They provide more than 500 meals daily and shelter 50 people nightly.
Jaclyn Cherubini, Executive Director, explains that The Shelter gives residents a “hand up, not a handout.”
“We are focused on feeding the whole person. [We take] a holistic approach to ending homelessness,” Cherubini explains. “By providing food and shelter, we are taking care of their immediate needs. By offering [guests] the chance to learn to write a resume or earn their GED, we are giving them a chance to move forward out of homelessness. The goal here is to end homelessness one person at a time.”
