HOBOKEN STRONG: Local Craftsman Creates Signs to Support Small Businesses and Front Line Workers

A local Hoboken businessman is making an impact by using his talents to keep his employees paid while helping feed front line responders at the same time.

Anton David, local resident, and owner of Hoboken Custom Craft and AVID Handyman Services was feeling like the rest of us, helpless and trying to figure out how to best help his community during this COVID-19 pandemic.

“When this crisis first became apparent I wanted to help immediately, so I went food shopping and delivered food at the Hoboken Shelter, the Hoboken Community Center, and made a care package for each of my employees, but I wanted to do something more. When I found the ‘Front Line Appreciation Group’ (F.L.A.G.), I knew there is more I could do.”

The F.L.A.G. mission is to provide meals to front line heroes by supporting local restaurants. F.L.A.G. pays local vendors and restaurants to cook and deliver healthy, fresh food seven days a week to hospitals, first responders, essential businesses and medical workers at home.

So Anton and his team went to work.  Using recycled materials, they designed and custom cut the Hoboken “H” into 11” hand-crafted blue and natural wood grain signs. Anton chose the Pantone blue color of the year 2020 (19-4052) because its official description seemed perfect- “Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era”. Across the “ H” is the word “STRONG” in sun yellow to signify hope and solidarity.
