Hoboken Water Main Break Woes Continue Into Second Day

The Hoboken water main break on Willow Avenue between 13th & 14th Street continues to impact residents and traffic, as SUEZ Water New Jersey and contractors work into the second day to repair the 30-inch main.

Initially reported around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, the ruptured line created a significant amount of ponding water on the road near the northern access point to Hoboken, near Trader Joe’s. Sub-freezing temperatures soon turned that water into an icy safety hazard for pedestrians in the area, while the road remains under repair.

Water service to nearby residents was unaffected at first, but outages became apparent later Saturday afternoon. Impacted buildings received deliveries of water throughout the night.

As of press time, service had been restored by repairs continue.
