Liberty Island and the Statue of Liberty have been evacuated Friday afternoon a suspicious package was found on the island.
“Park Police are working on a report of a suspicious package. Liberty Island and the statue were evacuated shortly after noon as a precaution,” said Sgt. Lelani Woods, spokeswoman for the United States Park Police in Washington, D.C.
Harbor units and the bomb squad at the scene.
While the Statue and Liberty Island “officially” fall under the jurisdiction of New York, we all know it’s New Jersey…
