NJ Funnyfest Offers Five Comedy Shows to Raise Money for Liberty Humane Society | June 17-21
Laughter may just be the best medicine for animals in Hudson County this Summer. The 1st Annual NJFunnyfest will put on five comedy shows in June to help raise some money for the Liberty Humane Society.
The Liberty Humane Society fosters a community of compassion and respect, and provides animals in need with a chance at a lifelong, loving home. The organization specializes in low-cost veterinary clinics, providing vaccines, flea and tick control, and microchipping; as well as affordable adoption services that stretch throughout the entirety of Hudson County.
Taking the Show on the Road
From March to April event creator Dan Frigolette, drove from NYC to Alaska and performed comedy over 42 days through 6,400 miles of road while raising money for the Liberty Humane Society. He was able to raise just over $1,200 for the charity. LHS also receives funds every year from the Hoboken Comedy Festival which takes place in each September in Hoboken, NJ.
“Adding the charity to what we do with these comedy shows adds a personality and element of benevolence to what we already love doing,” says Frigolette of the decision to include LHS in the festival’s agenda. “The better the show the more we are able to raise” he finishes.
This must be why the NJFunnyfest is chock full of notable and talented comedians. This year’s festival will be home to performances from Chuck Nice, recognizable from his appearances all throughout cable and on Good Morning America, Jon Fisch and Moody McCarthy from Late Night with David Letterman, Simeon Goodson and Derek Gaines from MTV and Broke A$$ Game Show, Richie Redding who opens for Kat Williams, Calise Hawkins who can be seen on Comedy Central and Oxygen, Vladimir Camaaño from NBC and Frigolette himself, who has been seen on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, as a guest on The Artie Lange Show, and on the Wendy Williams Show.
Jersey Jokes
NJFunnyfest will be five days for fido, and take place in two venues in Hoboken, two in Jersey City and close on Father’s Day with an event in Fairview. The goal of NJFunnyfest was to bring comedy throughout New Jersey and show that the same great comedy you see in Manhattan can be enjoyed in your own front yard (if you live in New Jersey). In total, the NJFunnyfest will feature 25 comedians with zero repetition throughout the festival, meaning each comedian only performs once, and each show will be like none of the others. On any given night, one will see five comedians strutting their silly and witness 90 minutes of comedic material from industry professionals and perhaps one or two new faces per night.
Each show will attempt to pass donation buckets, letting the audience decide exactly how much money the Liberty Humane Society is in store for. In addition, the NJFunnyfest vows $1 per person in attendance of each show. Giving potential patrons multiple reasons to attend.
