PATH Cuts Seeming Less Likely as Christie’s Transit Head Slams “Bad Idea”
As the chorus of opposition erupts into a cacophony, the prospect of cuts to overnight PATH train service seems less and less likely, particularly following a statement by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie‘s own Commissioner of the Department of Transportation, Jamie Fox, who called the concept, “a bad idea.”
“This is not the way I would save money,” Fox told NBC New York. “Mass transit is the future of this state.”
Fox once served as deputy executive director of the Port Authority, and his statements were made during a meeting of the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority.
Meanwhile, Governor Christie will be delivering his annual State of the State Address at 2:00 this afternoon.
